Astros Alex Bregman Has Swelling In Right Elbow Likely Wont Play This Weekend The Athletic

Houston Astros: Alex Bregman set to miss weekend series vs. Chicago White Sox

Third baseman Alex Bregman will miss Friday's game against the Chicago White Sox due to swelling in his right elbow.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros will be without starting third baseman Alex Bregman for at least this weekend's series against the Chicago White Sox due to swelling in the back of his right elbow, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

Bregman is expected to miss all three games of the weekend home series. He is batting .261 with 19 home runs and 59 RBIs for the Astros.

Bregman's injury is likely caused by sleeping on his elbow.

The Astros are expected to recall infielder J.J. Matijevic from Triple-A Sugar Land to take Bregman's place on the roster.

Bregman is one of the Astros' most important players, and his absence will be a big blow to the team's offense.

The Astros are currently in first place in the American League West, but they are just one game ahead of the Seattle Mariners.

Bregman's injury could make it difficult for the Astros to maintain their lead in the division.
